Mulch Glue the Sequel ― MULCH GLUE MAX!!!
In this sequel to my mulch glue review from last year, I will be reviewing Mulch Glue MAX! Last year's application worked very well, and I need to repeat that performance for at least another year while the native grasses mature. We had a MASSIVE downpour between when this was laid down and this posting, and the mulch held! The road washed out, nut the mulch held 🤣

Rocky Road Ahead!
Переглядів 12314 годин тому
I had planned on getting this whole job done in one day, but equipment failure made sure that wasn't happening! Although not shown, my Chapin 2-gallon sprayer also malfunctioned (sprung a leak right in the tank!), so in the end I used my DeWalt trimmer and a hand loppers to finish up the day. There is still no end in sight to the rain one week later. The current 10-day forecast has six days of ...

Espalier Training Spring Year Two
Переглядів 347День тому
As of this writing ― about a month after this was filmed ― the trees are doing very well, and are almost to the posts in some instances. The suckers in some cases are over a foot long now. I’ll have to do the update seen as I have probably tied these at least ten times since then! Even the sickly tree is looking better, and there are quite a few little apples. This is coming along very well! 😊 ...
'Dead’ Bur Oak Acorns Come Back to Life!
Переглядів 135День тому
This video was filmed a month ago, and since then I believe a few of the trees died ― and none of the remaining acorns sprouted. I may only get three trees out of this, but I have my fingers crossed hoping to get the four that I need to plant the old vineyard. Wish me luck! #BurOak #AcornsSprouted #BabyOaks Thank you for watching Planet Mojo and have yourself a great day!

Tiny House Remodel Done ― Onto Phase Two

In this video, I go over the work that needs to be done in the Tiny House 2.0. through the end of 2024. There is a lot of smaller details that were left out, but this is a good overview of the upcoming work that needs to be done. Because there is a watertight shell in place, the interior work should move right along - but all of the work will have to compete with the work going on in the dwarf ...

Prepping and Planting Our “Vegetable” Garden
Переглядів 9221 день тому
Today is the first 'frost free' day here in Wisconsin (May 15th, 2024), and Its time to plant the 'vegetable' garden. This year, the garden will be mostly flowers, but in the future, there will be more actual veggies. Our plan for the garden is to have 100% galvanized planters with recycled brick walkways in random patters in-between. But this year it's all about the flowers! The majority of th...

    Thanks to this vid, I now have another option for erosion control, and one that doesn't require any earthworks! I actually just poured mulch over the bare sand paths in my yard, and wondered how long the mulch would stay there. I'll definitely be using this glue to keep it in place. Bare ground absorbs and radiates so much more heat, it's like walking across a hot plate.

    At the end of the video, if your nozzle is dripping, it's likely some debris keeping the little red plunger in the handle from closing completely. If it doesn't spray a nice even pattern, take apart the nozzle tip and clean the three little ports inside the nozzle.The little tip inside the nozzle can be gently pulled straight out to facilitate cleaning and pushed straight back in when clean.

    Great video with explanations. I have a freeze proof sill cock to install on my shed/pump house. Also I am considering running a second line to the garden where I will put in a lawn hydrant. To get to the lawn hydrant I am considering drilling a hole in the concrete floor in the shed (4” - 6” thick) and run pex through a pvc elbow. Any ideas? Oh this is for north Texas. Thanks and all the best!

    • @PlanetMojo

      I have several videos on installing yard hydrants, but a lot of that is about frost protection because it gets -40 here 🥶 If you do a channel search for 'hydrant': www.youtube.com/@PlanetMojo/search?query=hydrant you can see if the information you are looking for is there. Generally, a line that goes to a garden would be poly hose (much cheaper than Pex). and would allow it to be blown out for winter - but do you even have to blow a water line out in Texas? 🤔

    • @PlanetMojo

  • @LeeEdmonds
    @LeeEdmonds 13 днів тому

    Killing an animal or trying to poison it just because it leaves "ugly" or "unsightly" mounds in your yard is just plain evil. The tunneling moles are known for actually helps aerate and drain soil and moles themselves eat many harmful insects and pests. And on that note, how about instead of getting rid of the moles we get rid of all these ugly suburban, high maintenance cookie cutter lawns and opt for landscaping that is less intensive and blends better with the existing environment.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo 12 днів тому

      They cause very harmful erosion, and the bugs they like the most are worms - which actually do aerate the soil. The lawn is not suburban, it is rural, and serves as a fire buffer for our home, not whatever you consider a "cookie cutter" lawn. We are in the process of restoring an oak savanna here by planting bur oaks and native grasses on what was farmland. Shall we opt for landscaping that blends with that "existing environment"?

  • @NickBoileau

    When you talk about your available space for trees versus the number of acorns you have, have you considered planting a couple on a site and waiting to see which one does better or even makes it? It would suck to eventually kill one to make room for the other but it should also increase your odds to meet the eventual goal of a mature tree on a specific site. I planted two white oaks two years ago about 12 feet apart. Both are small and they seem pretty healthy. I call it twin oaks trail now, and I have many mature oaks growing closer than that to each other naturally... so it may work out to keep both!

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo 12 днів тому

      Thanks J! I actually have considered a cluster of three oaks roughly 10' apart along our southern border. I've seen other savannas where two and three group clustering's are common. It would end up growing like one big tree in about ten years when the trees start touching. I would have a hard time planting multiple trees on the same site and culling some. I just went through that with snap peas and sunflowers! I am really bad at that - I did it - but I'm real bad at it. I could just imagine trying to do that with oak trees! 🥴 If I do a grouping of three and a single one in that south pasture, and four in the vineyard, that would cover all of the ones I have on-hand - but it looks like I may only get four out of these. That would be perfect. It would allow me to grow four more next year, and clear some more junk trees for more! 😉

  • @LynNurdle

    I screwed up the first set of acorns from my bur oak trees - but a few of them made it in spite of me! Hopefully four of them will make it down to the vineyard to take the place of the vines that once were there. At the very least, I have bought my last tree as I now have a 'mother' tree for the rest of the land 😊
